Make A Plan Every Practice

Make a plan that keeps you accountable down to the minute. Below is a sample plan, to keep your practice time within 1 hour. Make adjustments as necessary, prioritizing what is needed for that day in preparation for the game, competition, or event.

3:30pm – Stretch out as a group

3:37pm – Jump and/or tumbling drills

3:53pm – Work on stunting OR sideline chant review

4:05pm – Water & Restroom break

4:10pm – Perform halftime routine full out

4:20pm – Conditioning OR Jump Drills

4:25pm – Encouraging devotion, close with prayer OR team building activity

Have specific goals for each “section” of your practice, and move on even when a stunt may not be working. In the beginning of the season, it will be important to work on reviewing motion technique and sideline chants, drill the basics. Consider sending athletes video content, so that you are not wasting practice time learning new sidelines or cheers when they can be learned at home. Each practice will have different priorities depending on what is taking place that week.
